HISTORY OF DUKHAN TOASTMASTERS CLUB
Dukhan is an ancient city of Qatar where Oil & Gas was produced by Qatar Petroleum since 1947. QP is the main Industry & Township at Dukhan which facilitate high end community services to its employees. Dukhan Toastmasters club was formed at QP Dukhan Township on 07/07/07 with staunch support from Higher Management of QP Dukhan Operations.
No one ever dreamed of such a concern or outfit at Dukhan, until guided by TM Koka Prasad founder president of Dukhan Toastmasters, a handful of people, Mr. Sameer Hassan Moosa, Mr. Nasimudheen A. Hameed, Mr. Ronald Mendonsa and few others decided to join the Speechcraft Program conducted by Qatar Toastmasters Club during October 2006, coordinated by MTM Shubha Anupindi of Qatar Toastmasters Club (Mother Club). Facing all complexities in travelling, time and commitments, some speechcrafters made it a point to become toastmasters and members of QTM.
Although all those toastmasters secretly wished at heart, “if something like Qatar Toastmasters Club, was there at Dukhan too, the scenario was doubtful. But, amongst them, TM Sameer Hassan Moosa took up on himself the task to envisage a club at Dukhan and coordinated with Senior Toastmasters in Area & District. TM Paul Easy a Senior Toastmaster who is working in QP HR agreed to mentor the Club & coordinated with Dukhan HRA to launch a toastmasters club at Dukhan.
TM Sudhir Pandra, Area Governor supported toastmasters at Dukhan to form the club. The QP Dukhan Operation Higher Management extended their whole hearted and staunch support.
A demo meeting was conducted at Al-Dostur Hall at Dukhan Recreation Club on 07/07/07, which led to formation of the New Excom of Dukhan Toastmasters. District & Area officials including District Governor, DTM Sonny Varghese had given Key note addresses at the demo meeting where Dukhan Operations Manager, Ahmed Saif Al Sulaiti was the Guest of honor.
The most experienced person to lead the team was indeed TM Koka Prasad the Founder President, who was seconded by TM Ravi Ramamoorthy, as the VP Education. Profound personalities at Dukhan like TM Aun Lakhani, MTM Shaheen Mansoor, actively took up their roles as VP Membership and VP Public Relation. TM Sameer Moosa was assigned the role of the Club Secretary.
Club Celebrated their 50th meeting on 18/11/2009 & launched the website by Mr Soud Al Ruwaili, A/Manager Gas Recycling, Qatar Petroleum, Dukhan. He awarded Competent Leader award to TM Nasimudheen-Vice President,Public Relations who designed the website.
Anyone can dream, but the successful ones are those who make their dreams come true through their efforts and sacrifices. We at Dukhan Toastmasters proudly proved that,
" WHERE THERE IS A WILL THERE IS A WAY".
